Who We Are

A decade of trust,
weighed in gold.

Bucknor & Grandels Ltd is a Nigerian financial services and gold trading company headquartered in Lagos State. We operate at the intersection of three complementary business lines: collateral lending, retail gold trading, and craftsmanship. Together they allow us to serve clients across the entire gold value chain.

That structure is what sets us apart. Whether you are releasing value from a piece, acquiring one, restoring an old favourite or simply keeping it safe, it can all be handled under one roof, by people who have done it for more than ten years.

  • Discretion as standard

Every valuation, loan and transaction is handled privately. Your business is yours alone.

  • Assessed at prevailing market rates

Items are weighed and tested in front of you, and quoted against the market on the day.

  • Collateral held, not traded

Gold pledged against a facility stays in our vault for the term. Redeem it, and it comes back to you.

  • Goldsmiths in-house

Resizing, tightening, resetting and cleaning are carried out by our own bench, not sent away.

What We Do

Five services,
one counter.

Most clients arrive for one thing and discover we handle the rest. Each service stands on its own, and together they cover the full life of a gold asset.

Gold-Collateral Lending

Release short-term liquidity from gold you already own, without selling it. Pledge the item, receive your facility, redeem when you repay.

  • For individuals and small businesses
  • Collateral held securely for the full term
  • Item returned on repayment of principal and interest
  • Terms confirmed in writing before anything is signed

Buying Gold

We purchase gold from individuals and businesses across Lagos, whether you are realising value from one piece or clearing several.

  • Jewellery, bars, coin, scrap and broken pieces
  • Weighed and purity-tested in your presence
  • Quoted against prevailing market rates on the day
  • Settled the same day once you accept

Selling Gold

We sell gold to retail customers, to the jewellery trade and to institutional buyers. Tell us what you are looking for and we will source it.

  • Jewellery and investment-grade gold
  • Purity confirmed before you commit
  • Priced against prevailing market rates
  • Specific requirements sourced on request

Repairs & After-Care

Our in-house goldsmiths restore and maintain fine pieces, from a loose setting to a full resize on a much-worn ring.

  • Resizing and re-shanking
  • Stone tightening and resetting
  • Professional cleaning and polishing
  • Chain, clasp and solder repairs
By arrangement

Vault Storage

Secure storage for gold jewellery you would rather not keep at home, whether or not you have borrowed against it.

  • Itemised on intake and on release
  • Short or extended arrangements
  • Available alongside any other service

  • Gold coins
  • Scrap & broken gold

How It Works

Simple, and settled
the same day.

The same four steps apply whether you are selling, buying, borrowing or booking a repair.

Book ahead

Request an appointment online or by phone, and send us photos and an estimated weight. All visits are by appointment.

Assessment

Your item is weighed and purity-tested at the counter, in front of you. Nothing leaves your sight.

Your offer

We quote against prevailing market rates on the day, and explain in full how the figure was reached.

Settle or pledge

Accept and be paid, or pledge the item, take your facility and collect it again on repayment.

You are never obliged to proceed. Assessment is free of charge when you go ahead with a transaction; where you decide not to, a small assessment fee applies. We quote that fee before we begin, never after.

    Questions

    Good to know

How do you decide what my gold is worth?

Every item is weighed and its purity tested at the counter while you watch. The figure we quote reflects the actual gold content of the piece measured against prevailing market rates on the day of your visit. We walk you through how the number was reached before you decide anything.

Do I have to sell if I don't like the offer?

No, you are never obliged to sell. Assessment is free of charge when a transaction goes ahead. Where you decide not to proceed, a small assessment fee applies; we tell you what it is before we begin, so there is no surprise at the counter.

How does a loan against gold work?

You pledge a gold item as collateral and receive a short-term facility against it. The item is held securely in our vault for the term. When you repay the principal along with the agreed interest, your collateral is returned to you. Full terms, including amount, duration and interest, are set out in writing and explained to you before anything is signed.

What happens if I can't repay on time?

Speak to us early. We would much rather find a workable arrangement than see a client lose a piece that matters to them. If a facility ultimately goes unredeemed, the terms you signed set out how the collateral is handled.

    Do you accept diamonds?

Yes, when they are set into a gold piece. A diamond-set ring or pendant is welcome, and we assess the item at the counter. We do not buy loose or unset stones.

What should I bring with me?

Your item, a valid government-issued photo ID, and anything that supports ownership, such as a receipt, certificate or original box where you have one. If you are raising a short-term loan against gold, you will also need post-dated cheques.

Can you repair a piece you didn't sell me?

Yes. Our in-house goldsmiths handle resizing, stone tightening, resetting, cleaning and general repairs on gold jewellery regardless of where it was bought.

    Do I need an appointment?

Yes. We see clients strictly by appointment, so that the right person is free when you arrive and your item is dealt with properly. Please book before coming to the office.
